Jesus being mocked by the Soldiers

The Soldiers Mock Jesus

The soldiers dragged a tired Jesus to the courtyard of the governor’s headquarters. They summoned the whole village to come and watch them as they mocked Jesus. Dressed in a purple robe (of which that was humiliating on its own), they continued to humiliate Jesus by weaving a crown out of thorn branches. On the sweating head of Jesus they put the crown, pushed it down so as to make sure it would not fall off, blood started oozing from his head, into his eyes. The soldiers then went on to salute him and taunted him, “Hail! King of the Jews!” Crack! As one of the soldiers struck Jesus with a whip on his head. More blood started oozing from Jesus head. Other soldiers spat on him, while the others dropped down on their knees in mock worship. The crowd during all this was bursting in laughter. Once the soldiers had enough of mocking him, they ripped off the purple robe, which at this point was covered in blood, in front of the public and dressed him in his own clothes. The soldiers then resumed dragging a tired Jesus who could barely walk at this point to his place of crucifixion.
